Your brand new pool is installed and you need to prepare for its maintenance – cleaning, water balancing, chlorination. But where do you start?

Maintaining a pool is not difficult, but it does require commitment on your part. It is much more difficult to restore the chemical balance and cleanliness of the water than to maintain it.

Remember, you’re not alone. Pool maintenance experts are just a phone call away, but we’ve put together a helpful list of the essential products you’ll need to get started on your pool adventure.

1. Rapidly soluble chlorine

Rapid-dissolving chlorine is one of the most important chemicals you should always have on hand.

The slow-release one you use for daily maintenance will kill most bacteria. The fast-release one will superchlorinate the pool water.

It removes remaining bacteria in your pool, clarifies the water and makes it safe for swimming.

It also helps with algae growth .

You may need to shock treat more often if the pool is used regularly or if it has recently rained.

2. Test strips or reagent kit

Test strips and reagent kits are used to determine the current condition of the water.

Only after testing can you assess what chemicals need to be added to it to keep it clean and bacteria-free.

It is extremely important to test your water every week (or after rainfall, as mentioned above, as rainwater raises the pH of the water).

Just dip the strip in water for a few seconds and you will see that it has changed color.

You then compare the colors of the bar to those on the chart to determine which indicators are normal and which are not.

The testers measure alkalinity, pH, free chlorine, total chlorine, total hardness, cyanuric acid, and bromine.

3. Cap

The net is definitely a must-have tool. It is a net attached to a long pole that allows you to reach the furthest points of the pool.

Most rods are multifunctional – you can also use them with a brush  or squeegee .

You’ll probably use the cap every time before you swim – at the very least, to clean up fallen leaves, twigs, or insects.

5. Brush

Remember that multi-function pole we talked about earlier?

The brush and rod are an inseparable whole and are mainly used for cleaning the pool walls, especially in the event of an algae problem.

After treatment with algaecide , you should remove organic contaminants from the pool walls using a brush, and then clean with a vacuum cleaner .

4. Floating dispenser

The floating dispenser is a useful tool that floats freely on the water and allows the chlorine tablets to dissolve.

There is a rotating element located at the base that regulates the dosing of the chemical.

6. Vacuum cleaner

The pool cleaner is essential for cleaning the pool.

It is designed to make it easier to reach hard-to-reach corners.

Most floor cleaners and brushes do not come with a hose and wand , so you may need to purchase them separately.

And, if your pool has a skimmer, cleaning becomes even easier and faster – simply connect the cleaner to it using the hose.

7. Hose

The hose, as mysterious as its name may sound, is actually a special hose that connects the cleaner to the skimmer so that, through the pump, it can quickly and easily suck up dirt.

The hoses are produced in different lengths, but with a standard opening size – ø38-ø50.

And, for even greater convenience, there is also a reel on which you can wind the hose so that it does not get tangled.

8. Bedspread

The cover is an important part of the pool equipment not only from the point of view of its maintenance and cost savings – it also ensures the safety of you and your loved ones.

Functions: protects the pool from organic and inorganic pollutants and adverse weather conditions, reduces heating and water costs, reduces the use of maintenance products and their costs.

Modern pool covers are made of weather-resistant materials – reinforced PVC, lamella, polycarbonate panels, etc.

Depending on the price range and, most importantly, your needs, they can be controlled with a remote control or manually.

9. Robot

Although not essential, a robot is a really nice addition for any pool owner.

Most people don’t like to manually clean the pool before swimming and dream of clean water without much effort.

Now imagine a perfectly clean pool – whenever you feel like swimming.

While you are at work or sleeping peacefully, the robot will clean the floor, walls and waterline without a break.

They are intelligent, hardworking, and work independently.
